Taking into account the experience and results of the investigation of certain events on the gas and associated facilities (fire, explosion, poisoning, fumes, prohibited manipulation, etc.) from the perspective of a forensic expert we have prepared material, which will be published on the continuation. Contents of this material is based on real cases. Material according to the extent of individual reported cases includes:

  • A brief description of the event
  • Principles of the investigation
  • The findings at the crime scene
  • Issues to be solved
  • Findings and conclusions on the issues
  • Measurements taken on the spot
  • Results of expertise
  • Conclusions

The purpose of the material is to highlight the potential risks when designing, installing, testing, inspecting, maintening and operating of gas and associated equipment and also to identify possible breaches of regulations and procedures in everyday practice.

Individual cases are accompanied by photographs, measurements and in some cases by used calculations.

The material will be regularly complemented by other practical cases.

The question is: is gas condensing boiler with a hot water flow requiring power of 24 kW suitable for the apartment with little heat loss? Because under these conditions for the entire heating time, or a large part, boiler will cycle. Will this cycling be negatively reflected on the natural gas bill?

Poland still produces about 80 to 90 % of its electricity from coal. Three quarters of European households dependent on coal for heating are in Poland. The government is known for its continuous opposition to any EU legislation aimed at reduction of coal consumption. Every year, however, about forty thousands of people in Poland die from causes directly related to air pollution. Polish cities and towns are covered with heavy smog. Cracow, a city having the third dirtiest air in Europe, has recently adopted an unprecedented ban: a ban on use of solid fuels such as coal and wood for home heating. Is Cracow paving the way for Poland´s independency on coal?

This statement must be taken with a reserve. Sometimes no matter how much we want and it's not any good, because the challenge that we face, we could not master. Or perhaps do you know about a person who flew on using strenuous waving hands and flew away?

If we want to have the heat consumption under control, we should concentrate on the thermal balance of the building. And we should have a clear idea of how the various surrounding influences they change levels of internal heat balance, how they affect each other and to what degree we can manage.
