The article deals with possibilities of using heat from waste water discharged by outlet pipes of house appliances. The first section describes the basic possibilities of the local heat recovery (recuperation), used mainly in showers and shower baths. Theoretical analysis of the efficiency and related achievable savings is supported by an experimental measurement of a selected type of recuperative heat exchanger. The results of the measurement are compared with the classification according to the Passive House Institute. In addition to the efficiency and energy savings achieved by deploying the recuperative heat exchanger, the economic return of the specific heat exchanger is also determined for different boundary conditions.

Coal prices in Europe rose during 2016 by a staggering 69%. Coal producers suffer from the decreasing demand and are forced to reduce mining. It fell by 10%. Direct response is an increase in coal prices. It can be expected that the coal industry will continue to decline and the forehead will receive renewable energy sources. In renewables has already begun to invest in China. The rise in the price of coal should count and households.

Taking into account the experience and results of the investigation of certain events on the gas and associated facilities (fire, explosion, poisoning, fumes, prohibited manipulation, etc.) from the perspective of a forensic expert we have prepared material, which will be published on the continuation. Contents of this material is based on real cases. Material according to the extent of individual reported cases includes:

  • A brief description of the event
  • Principles of the investigation
  • The findings at the crime scene
  • Issues to be solved
  • Findings and conclusions on the issues
  • Measurements taken on the spot
  • Results of expertise
  • Conclusions

The purpose of the material is to highlight the potential risks when designing, installing, testing, inspecting, maintening and operating of gas and associated equipment and also to identify possible breaches of regulations and procedures in everyday practice.

Individual cases are accompanied by photographs, measurements and in some cases by used calculations.

The material will be regularly complemented by other practical cases.

This article is focused on the theory of heat distribution, thermal energy storage ability in the construction according to the thickness of thermal insulation and optimizing its design, also impact of pipe spacing in this type of energy-construction system. Mathematics and Physics model of reinforced concrete wall with active thermal protection was developed. It was run series of Steady-State simulations at this model with different input data about thermal insulation thickness, pipe spacing and concrete wall thickness. Unsteady simulations analyzed the possibility of thermal energy storing in this kind of construction systems. This article also describes preparation of experimental measurement in the environment of the Climate chamber.

At the level of the family living in the houses have increasingly promoted the combination of a new wood-fired boiler with a solar thermal system. Investors installations thus combined technologies monitor both reduce their energy costs and increase comfort and simplifies operation of facilities providing heat for heating and hot water.

The article describes the requirements for domestic hot water in residential houses. It deals with determining the need for hot water depending on the type of house, hot water consumption profile in residential buildings and with three basic methods for designing storage hot water tank and heat output of hot water heaters.

The commitment of the Czech Republic to increase the energy efficiency of heating by 20 % until 2020, is in the same ratio to increase heat savings without decreasing the internal temperature. For the first time it requires to achieve real savings of heat, not only reduce the level of heat in terms of economic behavior of users of flats. Network users can reduce the inside temperature, but increasing the energy efficiency of heating it falls short. The article informs about solutions for all insulated and non-insulated buildings.

The question is: is gas condensing boiler with a hot water flow requiring power of 24 kW suitable for the apartment with little heat loss? Because under these conditions for the entire heating time, or a large part, boiler will cycle. Will this cycling be negatively reflected on the natural gas bill?

Poland still produces about 80 to 90 % of its electricity from coal. Three quarters of European households dependent on coal for heating are in Poland. The government is known for its continuous opposition to any EU legislation aimed at reduction of coal consumption. Every year, however, about forty thousands of people in Poland die from causes directly related to air pollution. Polish cities and towns are covered with heavy smog. Cracow, a city having the third dirtiest air in Europe, has recently adopted an unprecedented ban: a ban on use of solid fuels such as coal and wood for home heating. Is Cracow paving the way for Poland´s independency on coal?

With the end of the year approached the deadline for mandatory inspections of boilers for solid fuels. Each owner respectively. operator of solid fuel boilers is obligated by the end of 2016 to let inspect the condition of the boiler. Checks and inspections of boilers may only be performed by a qualified person trained by the manufacturer of the boiler.

This statement must be taken with a reserve. Sometimes no matter how much we want and it's not any good, because the challenge that we face, we could not master. Or perhaps do you know about a person who flew on using strenuous waving hands and flew away?

If we want to have the heat consumption under control, we should concentrate on the thermal balance of the building. And we should have a clear idea of how the various surrounding influences they change levels of internal heat balance, how they affect each other and to what degree we can manage.

The article summarizes the results of combustion tests of two different types of local appliances for wood burning. The first appliance is individually built heavy construction stove, which was tested at stoking period of 12, 24 hours and for overload operation. For the possibility of an illustrative comparison in terms of thermal power stove of lightweight design was also tested. The tests were carried out in the calorimeter chamber of Energy Research Center Ostrava.
